Statement

My initial inspiration, the starting point so to speak, can come from the landscape and response to the observed colour, textures and weather conditions. This, combined with the sense of place and the less tangible world of imagination and memory encapsulates my work: paintings of movement and energy but also of silence and space between. On the other hand, work can be site specific, a response to a given brief. This can result in work being produced on site within parameters set for me. Of course there are times when painting is not the medium which speaks to me and I turn to textiles and installation pieces, making things, using the hands.
